Jane Eyre Giveaway!

Well do I ever have something exciting for you today! Many of you already know of my deep and long lasting love for the story of Jane Eyre - all that tension and drama just gets to me every single time. Which is why I was so excited when the kind people at Focus Features contacted me about doing a giveaway in conjunction with the recently released drool-worthy film, Jane Eyre. I haven't seen it yet (since I'm in one of those unlucky areas where it isn't showing yet), but you can be sure it's currently topping my list of must-see flicks. Just check out this lovely trailer...

Now onto the good part: Thanks to Focus Features, I have some great prizes in store for one lucky winner:
  • Soundtrack sampler
  • Bookmark
  • Journal
  • Pencil
  • Copy of the book, Jane Eyre, movie tie-in edition
All you need to do, dear reader, is to leave me a comment telling me what scene(s) from the novel you will be forever crushed if they don't include in the movie. Please be sure to leave me your email address. Contest will run until March 30th and is open to US residents only.

More than a scene, there is a passage in the book where Jane calls herself a poor ignorant dupe for ever thinking that Rochester could like her. She goes on and on, and I hope that passage is included somewhere, even if it's just part of it.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

I can't wait to see the movie this weekend! I hope they include the scene in the hallway, just after Jane has left the 'beautiful people'... when Rochester stops her in the hall and asks where she's going and why she looks like she might cry, knowing EXACTLY what's going on. It's so cruel, but also the moment you know he's smitten with her.

The crossdressing! If Rochester doesn't dress like a gypsy I will be most put out.

I was lucky enough to get to (drive an hour to Atlanta to) see Jane Eyre yesterday. Sooooo good! I loved how emotional they made it!

My sister and I had this conversation on the way to see the movie. The part which I most hoped they would keep in was the conversation between Jane and Mr. Rochester after she locks herself in her room upon finding out about his wife. I love that he sits outside of her door waiting for her to emerge I have always found the following conversation to be extremely emotional and I feel so bad for both of them!

I am going to throw my hat in because one can always use another copy of JANE EYRE. :) And I will be forever crushed if they don't include the scene where he asks her to come closer to the fire.

I can't wait to see the scene where he proposes (I think it's out as a sneak peek on youtube but I don't want to watch it before I see the film). Also, I hope they include some element of Jane's famous thought when she confronts him and decides to leave: "I will keep the law given by God; sanctioned by man...There I plant my foot."

I am eager to see the scene where Jane and Mr. Rochester first meet. Since they don't, of course, know who each other is they reveal their true characters without any of the social restraints that define their respective roles and employer and employee.

I hope they include the bit where Jane waits for him to return after the fire.

Hey! It's me, Charlotte. I also love this book. Two scenes for me: Helen dying (I know, morbid, right?), because it's such a sweet, sad moment. Second, Rochester calling her a "wood spryte" and other such cheesy titles when proposing.
